Everything is expressed through relationships - Piet Mondrian
This App is and intervention and a tribute to Piet Mondrian's work, discussing his life, work space and art theory.
It is based on three representative paintings from
different phases of his abstract career.
Three of Piet Mondrian’s most famous paintings are intervened: "Composition with Large Red Plane, Yellow, Black, Grey and Blue", "Composition with lines" and the unfinished "Victory Boogie-Woogie"
Hyperplasticism profits from the possibilities of augmented reality to extend the properties of traditional plastic art. Aiming the camera to any of these paintings will reveal new dynamic, interactive and generative capabilities, allowing for deconstruction of Mondrian’s work.
This work was presented in the MOD Digital Art Festival 2013 in Guadalajara, Mexico
and was featured in the fifth edition of the AR[t] magazine
, pages 88-91.
Download the app and aim the device to any of the paintings mentioned above:
The app uses the camera for the sole purpose of recognising the 3 Mondrian paintings and overlapping them with the intervention visuals. The app is not collecting any data and no extra analytics toolset is used. Google itself collects some data (e.g. Play Store), which is solely being used for monitoring purposes by the developers (e.g. app installations and ratings).
